Feed it any DC input between 5V and 40V — a 12V SLA battery, a 24V solar panel, a 36V power brick — and set the output anywhere from 1.2V to 35V using the two onboard trimmer potentiometers. Voltage and current limit are adjusted independently, so the same module works as a voltage regulator, a current-limited LED driver, or a controlled charger for lithium and lead-acid cells. At its core is the XL4016 step-down IC running at a fixed 180kHz, paired with a low-loss toroidal inductor and high-frequency filter capacitors. Twin finned aluminum heatsinks draw heat directly off the board, supporting peak figures of up to 9A and 300W. The XL4016 itself is rated around 8A continuous, so for sustained high-power use it is best to stay well below the peak rating and add an external cooling fan; 5V input suits light loads, while 8V or higher is recommended as the load approaches full current.
